On Friday night, we had a lovely meal celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the FHL Advancement Board. This enthusiastic group of FHL supporters was the brilliant foresight of previous Director Dennis Willows and friend and supporter Bob Lundeen.

It’s April and Spring has arrived!!
The wet winter has catalyzed the daffodils, and they are out in numbers on the island. At FHL, the UW students are a week into either ZooBots or the Marine Biology Quarter.
Eugene Nicholas Kozloff (1920 – 2017)
So sad to share the news that Eugene Kozloff passed away at Lighthouse Memory Care in Anacortes yesterday.
Among his many achievements, Koz came to the UW FHL in 1966 and remained here until 2007.

It’s been a tough month for all of us here at FHL, and winter is lingering: we had snow falling at least three separate times in February. We are not used to snow on San Juan Island, so we tough it out until it melts, but it’s disruptive.
