Happy September 1st to all FHL scientists, students and supporters!

Wow, where did the summer go? We had a very busy one here at FHL, with many events to celebrate our researchers, outreach program, and friends. The most recent of these events was Jazz at the Labs, which raised over $37,000 for our FHL K-12 outreach program. We love these events which bring FHL together with the Friday Harbor community and also raise money for our programs! Thanks to all of you who participated.

September is a month of conferences at FHL and we are very busy with large groups coming and going, and our custodians working double-time to do many housing turnovers in a short time. The first day of Fall classes starts on September 27th, and we’ll also welcome the “Three Seas” program back from Northeastern University.

This month’s Tide Bite describes some very interesting research done here last summer about different populations of the same species varying in their responses when exposed to similar conditions of ocean acidification, due to local adaptations.

Enjoy these last few days of summer!
