Rates listed are for expenses paid by card, check, or cash; they include 6.85% University of Washington overhead, and are subject to an additional 8.3% sales tax. If paying on a UW budget, neither overhead nor sales tax are incurred.

  1. Educational discounts may be available.
  2. Hourly rate applies to gear-up, gear-down, and vessel transit time required for the job.
  3. Vessel rate covers cost of licensed captain, fuel, and liability insurance.

Work away from Friday Harbor Labs

The hourly rates above also apply to hires of the Kittiwake for jobs elsewhere. In these cases, a deckhand is usually required. Additional requirements and charges noted below.

Minimum Required Workday 4 Hours
Overnight Fee (away from FHL home port) $200 + local moorage
Specialized Equipment Varies, depending on operational & rental cost
