These rates are higher than UW budget rates in order to cover overhead and depreciation as required by UW. All prices have been round up, so actual charges may be slightly less.

Guests (those invited by researchers, scholars, students or staff) staying in a separate unit will be charged an additional $12/night/unit.

(*) Shaw unit rates are for two occupants; charge of $12/day for each additional person.

Bedding: Housing rates include two flat sheets (fitted sheets are not available), a pillow with pillowcase, blanket and a towel per bed.  A weekly linen exchange at a designated day, time and place is included. 


Full meal plans are required if staying in non-kitchen units (huts and dorms, excluding grad dorms). Researchers and scholars staying on campus three or more days in all other units are required to purchase Regular Meal Cards. The cards can be used toward any food or beverage in the Dining Hall. Meals for children 10 and under are half price.

Individual Meals:

Regular Meal Cards:

  • Students $13.44/weekly (equivalent to one lunch)

Facilities Use Fee

All researchers and scholars on campus, except students and those with lab space, will be charged Facilities Use Fee. The rates per researcher/scholar are as follows:

  • Daily $12
  • Weekly $65
  • Monthly $206

Lab Space

Lab space (per unit) rates are as follows:

  • Daily $36
  • Weekly $200
  • Monthly $641

Boat Use

For RV Centennial and ROV rates, please contact Dr. Derek Smith at benthos@uw.edu. Note that there is a 4-hour minimum charge for use of ROV.

  • Motorboat (*) rates are $31/hour
  • Rowboats (**) are free of charge
