The R/V Kittiwake is based in Friday Harbor, Washington, at Friday Harbor Laboratories. She is available for research in the San Juan Islands, Puget Sound, the Salish Sea, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. While she is based in Friday Harbor, research trips can travel as far as Neah Bay, Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Edmonds, Kingston, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Gig Harbor, Blaine, Bellingham, or Anacortes.
