These rates apply only to field trips paid on UW budgets. If paying otherwise, please see Field Trips Standard Rates.

A Field Trip consists of enrolled students that come to FHL in pursuit of marine studies.

Student Housing (per student)

Students stay in shared (double) dorm rooms or huts. Housing rates include two flat sheets (fitted sheets are not available), a pillow with pillowcase, two blankets and a towel.  A weekly linen exchange at a designated day, time and place is included. 

  • Bed in shared dorm room: $20/day

Instructor Housing (per unit)

Instructors and teaching assistants are housed in various units. They will be charged for housing according to the unit prices listed for researchers. Instructors will also be charged Facilities Use Fee, as listed on the Researcher & Scholar UW Budget Rates.

Facilities Use Fee (per instructor)

All instructors for the field trip will be charged a Facilities Use Fee, unless the group is renting a lab building (the fee for which includes the Facilities Use Fee.)

  • Daily $10
  • Weekly $56
  • Monthly $180

Dining

Field trip participants are expected to purchase full meal plans. Organizers should contact Laurie Spaulding (spauldla@uw.edu) to arrange for meals.

  • Lunch $11.75
  • Dinner $16.50
  • Full Meal Plans $243.75/weekly
  • Full Meal Plans $1005/monthly

Meeting Spaces (including labs)

No additional charges for field trips paid on UW budgets.

Boat Use

For RV Centennial and ROV rates, please contact Captain Meegan Corcoran at meeganc@uw.edu or 206-616-0696. Note that there is a 4-hour minimum charge for use of ROV.

  • Rowboats (*) no additional charges for field trips paid on UW budgets.

(*) Use of rowboats requires a rowboat orientation. For orientations scheduled after hours, there is a $50 charge. To schedule an orientation, please contact Kristy Kull at kjkull@uw.edu
