Courses at FHL vary from year to year.  During summer terms (Summer A and Summer B), we offer both graduate and undergraduate courses. During Autumn and Spring quarters, we offer undergraduate courses along with unique research apprenticeship programs.

We encourage non-students as well as students (from any institution) to apply to our programs. The application process is generally not the same as for courses taught on the UW Seattle campus, so be sure to look carefully over the Applying for an FHL Course page.

FHL offers financial aid opportunities for students who can demonstrate need or academic merit. To maximize the aid to as many qualified students as possible, only partial support will be awarded to individuals.

Coursework at FHL requires a full time commitment, and living on campus is highly encouraged. Due to the remote location of FHL, it is not possible to commute to FHL from Seattle. The living arrangement at FHL is unique in that most faculty and almost all students live, eat and work together on the FHL campus.

We welcome faculty from academic institutions worldwide to consider teaching an FHL course. Besides courses, there are other exciting opportunities to teach at FHL, which includes the leading of a team of Research Apprentices or mentoring a summer intern.
