There has been an increased demand for charging stations for Electric Vehicles (EVs) here on the FHL campus. Unfortunately, we don’t have a dedicated EV charger, yet!  But we do have a few dedicated locations for charging.

Below is a map of the spots that we have designated to charge EVs.

Purple Stars: Dedicated locations that can be charged at during any time of the day – one or more extension cords is located at these sites

  • Main Fernald Lot – Look for the green EV Charging Location sign up by the marked white UW vans
  • The Stockade – Fenced in area at the end of the row of parking by the Duplex R, across from Cottage D, and the grilling lawn area. (please only park in a designated parking location here and not in the grass) – there are 2 power cords that can be used to charge you electric vehicle hanging from the back of the fence.

Please move your car as soon as it’s charged to allow for others to also charge their vehicles.  These spots are not full time parking spots.

Orange Stars: Dedicated locations that EVs can be charged at during limited hours of the day (overnight) and with your own cord

       7PM to 7AM Only

  • Outlet by the Phone booth in the apartment parking area – If the street light is on above the outlet and it’s dusk, then the outlet has power and can be used to charge overnight – this outlet and streetlight are set to a dusk to dawn setting. AKA powered by the moon.
  • Loading area between Lab 6 and Lab 7. – Please park between lab 6 and 7 and plug into the back of lab 6

Any time other than the mentioned charging times, all cars should be in designated parking spots for the orange charging locations to avoid traffic or loading conflicts and to allow for business as usual to take place here at FHL.

There are also a few stations in town.

PLEASE do not pick any spot to park and plug into what looks like an opportune outlet. Many of our outlets are on circuits shared with critical devices that could be compromised when an overloaded circuit trips a breaker. Park only in designated parking spots as shown on the map below.  When Charging, be sure not to Jump curbs, encroach on pedestrian sidewalks, or run cords across walkways that may create triping hazards.

Let the Front Office know if you need to charge your EV and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Thanks for your cooperation!
