My research project focuses on the investigation of the neural system and neural control of behavior in Ctenophores with specific emphasis on the role of different neurotransmitter systems. Ctenophores represent one of the oldest animal phyla with the developed nervous system. However, very little is known about the development, morphology and functioning of the nervous system in ctenophores and their transmitter make-up.
