Thanks to the generous donations of scientists and friends of FHL, we are offering opportunities for financial support to faculty researchers interested in “off-season” time at FHL. We hope to use this as an opportunity to increase not only our year-round research vibrancy but also our human diversity.

FHL Faculty Research Fellowships are targeted towards faculty scientists coming to FHL to do research in the months September-May, e.g. as part of a sabbatical year or during substantial breaks from other academic year responsibilities. Early and mid-career faculty are especially encouraged to apply. These fellowships will typically cover on-site expenses but not salaries.

  • Applicants must currently hold a faculty appointment (at any level). Preference will be given to scientists who have not conducted research at FHL before (exception: scientists who have been here only as students taking a class).
  • The fellowship will cover the costs of FHL housing, lab fee, facility fee, and boat/dive fees if relevant for a period of 3 weeks to 6 months.
  • Applicants must plan to do active research (field and/or lab).
  • Applicants awarded a fellowship will be expected to give a seminar to students and researchers in residence at FHL.
