Many of you saw the TideBites article last October that described the Sea Grant program for early detection of the invasive green crab (Carcinus maenas). It was gratifying to me to be on the team that discovered the first green crab in Washington waters.
SeaGrant is now gearing up for a new sampling season and is looking for volunteers from San Juan Island to continue this important work. The Sea Grant staff will be coming to FHL on March 6th to give another training session for prospective volunteers.
The Crab Team web site gives detailed information about the program, with photos and videos that are useful to anyone who spends time on Washington beaches. A flyer for the Friday Harbor training session is attached. If you would like to attend the training, you can register on the calendar event at this link.
Please consider becoming a Crab Team member, and tell your friends about this program. Further questions may be directed to Dr. Emily Grason, Crab Team Program Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org
