Supported by a generous donation from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, FHL extends an invitation to all faculty who can provide or support diversity on our campus. We seek candidates for two or three month temporary faculty appointments at FHL in autumn, spring, or summer quarters. Scientists from any life science discipline, both nationally and internationally, are encouraged to apply.
There are two ways in which a temporary faculty appointment can be structured:
1. Two-month appointment in support of mentoring a research intern(s) as part of the Blinks/NSF REU/Beacon Summer Internship program, while conducting independent research at Friday Harbor Laboratories. Separately, application instructions for this mentoring opportunity can be found here.
2. Three-month appointment to lead a team of research apprentices during autumn or spring quarter. Separately, application instructions for this teaching opportunity can be found here.
Please submit a copy of the application(s) submitted above with a short proposal (up to 300 words) of why you should be selected for this temporary faculty appointment and send by email to Director Dr. Billie Swalla by the same deadlines as applications due for the above programs (February 15 for Blinks/NSF REU/Beacon Summer Internship program and April 30 one year prior for Research Apprenticeship). Include the following text in the subject line of the email: Application for an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Faculty Position
