FHL course students (including UW students) will need to pay for some expenses to UW Seattle and others to Friday Harbor Labs. Click on the link below for complete details on how and where to make payments and register for your courses.
A UW STUDENT is one who is enrolled in a degree program (matriculated) at UW at the time the FHL program begins.
Housing charges cover accommodations in a shared (2-person) dorm room; private rooms and huts may be available at an additional cost of $100 for a 5-week summer term, $200 for a 10-week spring/autumn/winter quarter. Dining charges cover a full meal plan in the FHL Dining Hall (20 meals per week; vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets accommodated at no extra charge). A light blanket is provided for each bed, but students should provide their own sheets and pillowcase.
Deposits: After a student is admitted, a non-refundable deposit toward housing at FHL is required to secure their spot in the program. See How to Pay & Register for information about the due date for deposits and how to pay.
Financial Assistance: Thanks to grants and the generous donations of alumni, scientists, and friends, FHL is able to offer partial support to many students taking courses at FHL. See our page on Course Financial Aid for details.
Research Apprenticeship costs and payment procedures are the same for everyone. UW Students: you will NOT see these charges or pay for them through your UW student account.
